CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Neal Cassidy
CANON: Once Upon a Time
AGE: Appears to be between 30-35 but is actuality 100+
CANON POINT: Just before his death in season 3B.

BACKGROUND: LINK but also a bit more:

Neal has unfortunately drawn the short stick on more than one occasion in his life, unable to do much about anything he wants to fix or make right. For example: He couldn't save his father from darkness, and he had to let Emma go - which turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes he's ever made because it kept him from knowing he had a son for eleven years. His birth name is Baelfire, or Bae for short. When his father became the most powerful controller of dark magic in any land, Bae watched as power drove him to murder and greed. In an attempt to start life over in a world without magic, Bae fell through a portal alone, though he was adopted by the Darling family. When he had the chance to do right by Wendy and her two brothers, Baelfire went to Neverland willingly, and after a brief stay with Killian Jones (Captain Hook), he lived on the island proper, never aging.

Eventually he made his way to New York in the 80s, began aging again and met Emma Swan when she was seventeen. Before they could attempt to make an honest go of it, Pinocchio, someone from the land of Neal's past, confronted him with the knowledge that Emma had to break a powerful curse, which meant Neal had to step out of her life. Setting her up for theft, Neal let Emma go to jail, unaware that she was pregnant.

Eleven years later in New York, Neal was reunited with his father who sought him out with Emma's help, and it was then that he realized he had a son - Henry. Wanting to be a part of his life, Neal made his way back to Storybrooke, but through a series of events (during which is father seemed to die) eventually Neal found himself back in his home world. Determined to revive his father, he does manage to do just that, by absorbing him into his body. He knows though, even in this state, that if they ever separate it will kill him. But it's a risk he's willing to take as the Wicked Witch of the West arrives on scene to destroy everyone, and Rumplestiltskin is the only one who knows who she is.

INCENTIVE/FIT: Neal will come to Eudio with the hope he will be able to guarantee Emma and Henry's safety once he separates from his father. If he can do this one thing right and help keep his family safe, then even if he dies in the end, it's completely worth it. Henry and Emma, to Neal, are worth everything, even if he can never really be a part of their lives fully.
